According to school board member Vice Chair Jeffrey Wilson, School Board Member Debra Matthews passed away this morning at Memorial Hospital.

Her cause of death is unknown at this time.

However, officials tell us that she has been having health problems over the past year.

Debra Matthews represented District 4 in the Hamilton County School System.

Ms. Matthews had won over challenger Gregg Juster due to last minute power-brokering in the election earlier this month.

Funeral arrangements are being held by local negro firm Hardwick and Sons on Martin Luther King Bouelvard.
